Service Pricing

To help you make an informed decision about your funeral service options, we’ve broken down all the costs in our general price list. We also have several payment options to lessen the financial burden. If you have any questions or are unsure of which options best suit your needs, please contact us at (203) 624-4477. General Price List

These prices are effective December 28, 2017; but they are subject to change without notice.


This price list is designed to familiarize you with the services and products provided by our firm. A well-designed and sensitively handled funeral provides critical psychological, social, and spiritual benefits. At Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, it is our goal to assist you in the planning of a meaningful final tribute to your loved one.

These prices are effective December 28, 2017; but they are subject to change without notice. The goods and services shown below are those we can provide to our customers. You may choose only the items you desire; However, any funeral arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic services and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reason in writing on the statement we provide; describing the funeral merchandise and services you selected.




Basic Services of the Funeral Director, Staff & Overhead: $1795.00

Staff available 24 hours daily to respond to the initial requests for services; Conference with the family or its representative, and advice to determine desired services and to obtain vital statistical information for required documents; Sheltering of remains for 4 days; Coordinating the desired funeral service plans with: clergy, cemetery, crematory, and/or other third parties; Preparation and filing of all necessary notices, authorizations and permits with governmental offices; Follow-up attention to related details connected with the service. In addition, this fee includes a proportionate share of our basic overhead costs such as: Compliance with infectious waste management regulations, and employee safety regulations mandated by governmental agencies; general administration; and record keeping.




Local Transfer of Remains to the Funeral Home


A. Within a 20 mile radius of the funeral home: $495.00

B. Transfer of remains to or from the Connecticut Airports: $495.00

C. Transfer of remains to or from NYC Airport: $595.00

D. House calls, Nursing Homes, and immediate response:

  • Monday-Friday 7AM – 7PM: $595.00 + $50.00 per additional staff
  • Monday-Friday 7PM – 7AM: $695.00 + 50.00 per additional staff
  • Weekends & Holidays: $795.00 + $75.00 per additional staff


For clarification of house call charges, please inquire with funeral director.




Embalming

Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a FUNERAL WITH VIEWING. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as DIRECT CREMATION or IMMEDIATE BURIAL. We reserve the right to embalm human remains in our care to protect our business integrity and enforce the CT Public Health Code to protect our staff.

A. Embalming normal remains: $795.00

B. Embalming autopsied remains: $895.00

C. Donated remains (There may be funds available to offset this expense): $1195.00




Other Preparation of Remains


A. Cosmetology, Grooming, Dressing, Casketing or Bathing & Surface Disinfection: $295.00

B. Alternative Care of Remains: $395.00

C. Restoration of Remains (when necessary, per hour): $195.00




Optional Use of Funeral Home Facilities, Staff and Equipment

May include the following: Supervision of funeral director and staff for visitation and/or ceremony; Receiving and arranging flowers and other memorial tributes; Professional adherence to the rituals of designated religious faiths and/or fraternal orders.


A. Viewing (Up to two hours):

  1. Use of facilities, staff and equipment; for viewing or visitation at the funeral home or other local facility: $595.00
  2. Transfer of remains to another location for funeral service/wake/calling hour: $150.00
  3. Family Viewing/Cremation ID Viewing: $195.00


B. Funeral Ceremony:

  1. Use of Funeral Director and Staff, including necessary equipment for: Church Services, Memorial Services at another location or at the funeral home: $595.00
  2. Use of Funeral Director and Staff, including necessary equipment for: Grave Side Services: $595.00
  3. Weekend & Evening Services: Saturdays, additional $395; Sundays, additional $595; Holidays, additional: $795.00
  4. Transfer from another local facility for (Holding at Funeral Home or Next Day Committal): $75.00
  5. Sheltering/Refrigeration remains per day (after 4th day): $125.00
  6. Disinterment (Does not include necessary merchandise for re-interment or permit fees): From $995.00
  7. Night wake or service, additional: $295.00
  8. Extra personnel for large services is billed per staff person: $125.00




Automotive Equipment

All transportation charges are for local service. Over 20 mile radius add $5.95 per loaded mile, per vehicle.

A. Hearse (Funeral Coach): $450.00

B. Seven passenger limousine: $425.00

C. Service Vehicle, e.g. Flower, Lead Car and each additional vehicle: $195.00

D. Horse Drawn Funeral Coach: from $1600.00 - $2700.00

DISCLAIMER: 3.5 hours is allotted per vehicle(s) from time of pick up; an additional $95/hr. will be charged for overtime. Limousines does not wait for family during repast.




Funeral Merchandise


A. Remembrance Package:

  • Acknowledgement Cards (25 cards per box): $15.00
  • Guest Register Book: From $50.00
  • Laminated Obituary: $5.00


B. Caskets (A complete price list will be provided at the funeral home): from $1050.00

C. Rental Casket Available (for Cremation Services): $895.00

D. Outer Burial Containers (A complete list will be provided a the funeral home): from $1290.00




Forwarding Remains to Another Funeral Home: from $4170.00

Basic Services of the Funeral Director and Staff, local transfer of remains to our Facility, Embalming normal remains, Cosmetology, Grooming, and Dressing, local transfer of remains to Connecticut Airports, air tray or combo unit.

This price does not include: certified death certificates, permits, airline ticket, merchandise or any other cash advance items.




Receiving Remains from Another Funeral Home: from $3080.00

Basic Services of the Funeral Director and Staff, local transfer of remains to our Facility from Connecticut Airports, other preparation of remains, local transfer of remains to the place of final disposition.

This price does not include: Merchandise, Optional Use of Facilities, Staff and Equipment, or cash advanced services.




Cremation Services: from $3130.00

Basic Services of Funeral Director and Staff, local transportation of remains to our facility, local transfer of remains to crematory, other preparation of remains, cremation container, pouch.

This price does not include: Merchandise, Embalming, Crematory Fee, Medical Examiners Fee, Death Certificates, Permits or any other cash advance items. NOTE: For cremation service, a $395.00 deposit is required which will be returned upon family retrieving cremains.




Immediate Burial

Basic Services of the Funeral Director and Staff, local transfer of remains to our Facility, other preparation of remains, local transportation to cemetery.

This price does not include: Merchandise, Optional Use of Facilities, Staff and Equipment, Embalming, or any cash advanced services.

Burial Permit or Cremation Permit: $3.00

Cremation Fee: from $200.00

Medical Examiner Fee for Cremations (required by State Law): $150.00

Cremation Containers: from $295.00

Cremation Urns: from $100.00

Certified Death Certificate: $20.00

 


 

Terms of Payment

At the completion of the funeral conference and prior to any death notice announcements, including newspaper, social media, word of mouth, etc...payment in full must be arranged or agreed upon with the Funeral Director.

 


 

Insurance

An assignment of funeral bill from a Life Insurance Policy is accepted; however, insurance company must verify beneficiary and honor a funeral home assignment. A 5% administrative insurance processing fee amy be applied to the funeral bill. When using life insurance, a deposit of cash advances is expected. No life insurance policy will be accepted when the policy is in the contestable period (0-2 years).

 


 

Acceptable Forms of Payment

Discover, Master Card, Visa, Certified Check, American Express, Help Card or Cash. The funeral home does not have payment arrangements.

 


 

E-Pay Service

Our easy-to-use payment center allows for families and friends to search for their loved one and make an online payment toward their account. All payments are processed using a secure payment page. 

 


 

Title 19 Eligibility

The Department of Social Services may contribute towards funeral costs based upon eligibility. The application process will be initated at the funeral home. Completing the application does not constitute payment from DSS. Family will be responsible for funeral bill until payment from DSS is received. Credit/Debit card transactions are not accepted with Title 19 funerals.

Our ARIA services focus on handling all of your needs, while providing you with an exceptional level of emotional support and care.

Every person is an individual, so memorial services should be customized to reflect that individuality. Our funeral specialists will guide you through the complex process of planning an appropriate tribute to your loved one. We will fulfill your requests down to the smallest detail, in order to guarantee a beautiful, meaningful and appropriate service.

We know it is difficult to make decisions in a time of grief, and we want you to feel comfortable and confident with the funeral arrangements you select. We will make sure you are thoroughly familiar with all services available before you make a decision, and we will not pressure you into services which are not appropriate for your needs.

Family plays an incredibly important role in planning a funeral, however many find it uncomfortable to discuss these issues. We can help ease the process, by working with family members and clergy, to calmly and intelligently discuss all aspects of the service, as well as to address the needs and desires of the family. We can also assist in the creation of a “Pre-Need Account,” where all decisions concerning a future funeral can be made in advance.

At Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, we can offer help with counseling without any obligation. We will educate you on the psychological, emotional, social, and financial aspects of the funeral process. It will be our pleasure to assist you in the planning of a meaningful, final tribute to your loved one.
